Basement extension and refurbishment of a period property in Clapham Common conservation area

About

Pace were appointed to extend and completely renovate this elegant three-storey townhouse near Clapham Common. Located in a conservation area, we needed to sensitively restore the building’s period features while updating the interiors throughout.

We lowered and opened up the basement to create a lighter and more spacious kitchen-diner, working in partnership with Kitchen Architecture. The Pace team constructed bespoke joinery for the office and living spaces, and installed polished concrete floors, underfloor heating and shadow gaps on the skirtings. We also installed structural glass balustrades in the hall and landing to create a greater feeling of light and space.

We upgraded the electrical and mechanical services throughout the house, including an efficient new electric boiler.

The result of this project is a beautiful family home that combines traditional features with contemporary style and comfort.
